An injection-molded plastic kit of the early version of the legendary British Supermarine Spitfire fighter in 1:72 scale from the Czech manufacturer Kovozavody Prostejov. The Special Markings edition concentrates on interesting and less common marking schemes, among them an aircraft in an untypical finish. In the box you will find gray and clear plastic parts, a decal sheet and color instructions.
The Spitfire Mk.Ia was the first Spitfire built in series and made its name in the Battle of Britain in 1940. It was powered by a liquid-cooled Rolls-Royce Merlin V12 engine, and the armament consisted of eight 7.7 mm wing machine guns. The elegant elliptical wing gave the aircraft outstanding handling and speed and became its recognition feature.
This is a model in a smaller scale with fine parts, so thin cement for plastic and careful cleanup of the flash are called for. Spray a gloss coat before applying the decals; an airbrush and a good primer are ideal. The period British Dark Earth and Dark Green camouflage with its divided undersurfaces calls for thorough masking of the transitions.
The model is supplied unassembled and unpainted. Glue, paints and accessories are not included in the package, unless stated otherwise.
