The Su-27 is a single-seat twin-engined fourth-generation fighter aircraft which first flew in 1977 and entered line service in the middle of the 1980s. The cabin set high above the ground cannot do without a boarding ladder, and chocks under the wheels are among the standard means of securing a machine that is parked. A model without them looks as if it had been caught in flight; with them a readable scene of an aircraft on the apron arises. The accessory suits a display-case base and a more extensive airfield diorama with figures and ground equipment just as well.
First wash the resin parts in lukewarm soapy water, so that the remnants of the mold release agent disappear from the surface, otherwise the paint will not hold. Cut the casting blocks off with a saw or a cutter, do not break them off; protect your airways when sanding and rather sand wet. They are glued with super glue, that is, cyanoacrylate, because ordinary cement for plastic does not act on resin. Apply a primer before painting. The thin rungs of the ladder will take only a very fine layer of paint applied with an airbrush; a final dark wash and a light drawing over the edges will give the casting depth back. Chocks tend to be markedly worn in photographs, so a scraped edge and a dusty patina pay off on them.
