The LP Models resin accessory for 1:72 scale adds a boarding ladder to the tandem cabin to a model of the two-seat Su-27UB. There is no model of the aircraft in the package; this is purely an element of ground service. The manufacturer designates the set as the early version of the ladder; compare the shape with the documentation on the machine you are building, therefore.
The Su-27UB is the two-seat combat trainer version of the Su-27 with a tandem arrangement of the cabin and an enlarged vertical tail surface. The rear seat set higher also means a different way of boarding from the single-seat version, so the ladder for the two-seat machine has a shape of its own and cannot be mistaken for the one for the single-seat Su-27. A model completed with a ladder stops looking static and begins to tell the story of a machine parked on the apron, whether it stands on a display-case base or in a well worked out airfield diorama.
First wash the resin parts in lukewarm soapy water, so that the remnants of the mold release agent disappear from the surface; without that the paint will not hold. Cut the casting blocks off with a saw or a cutter, do not break them off, and protect your airways when sanding. They are glued with super glue, that is, cyanoacrylate, because ordinary cement for plastic will not join resin. Apply a primer before painting and apply the paint in thin layers, so that the fine rungs are not flooded. A dark wash will bring out the steps and the side frames, and a light dry drawing over the edges will suggest scraped metal where the crew boards.
This is an accessory, not a model of the aircraft. The kit, glue and paints are not included in the package, unless stated otherwise.
