The most extensive variant of the resin set for the Su-33 in 1:72 scale. According to the name it holds a boarding ladder to the cabin, wheel chocks in the form for carrier-based machines and, in addition, a service ladder used during maintenance. It is an accessory to a finished model, not a kit of the aircraft.
The boarding ladder deals with the access of the pilot into the cabin, the chocks hold the machine in place and the service ladder is a taller, more robust structure by which technicians reach the upper areas of the fuselage, the machine itself and the equipment bays. When all three elements are at a model, the scene gains a story at once: an aircraft in the stage of preflight preparation or of ordinary maintenance. With the carrier-based Su-33, derived from the Su-27 and adapted for operation from an aircraft carrier, it is precisely the service work on the limited area of a deck that is a rewarding subject for a diorama.
Wash the parts in warm soapy water, so that the mold release agent from the mold disappears. Cut the casting blocks off with a saw and do not break the thin rungs of the ladders off — resin is hard but brittle. They are glued exclusively with super glue or epoxy. Do the sanding wet and with a respirator. Use a filler primer before painting; ladders tend to be scraped in service, so after the base color it pays to go lightly over the edges with a dry brush in a metallic shade and to add a dark wash. Then dust the chocks with pigment, so that they go with the base of the diorama.
The accessory is supplied unassembled and unpainted. Glue, paints and a base kit are not included in the package, unless stated otherwise.
