1:72 T-34/76 from the production of the UZTM works decals, second part (Colibri Decals)

A sheet of waterslide decals in 1:72 scale for plastic models of the Soviet T-34 medium tank with a 76 mm gun. This time the series is divided by the factory of production: it concentrates on machines from the output of the Uralmashzavod in Sverdlovsk. This is the second part. The product is a modeling accessory, not a kit.

The real subject

During the war the T-34 was built in parallel by a number of plants and each adapted production to its own means. That is exactly why machines of the same type differ visibly in the shape of the turret, the form of the welds, the stowage of tools and the way markings were applied to them. The Uralmashzavod was among the major makers and from its lines came, among other things, the characteristic stamped turret, which is easy to recognize on a model. Dividing the decals by factory therefore makes sense: the markings suit a particular form of hull and turret.

How to use the decals

Before applying, even the color out with gloss varnish so that the film has nowhere to pick up air. Lift the motif off with a scalpel, soak it, let it release and transfer it into place with a damp brush. On rough surfaces, such as those left by a cast turret, a decal softener together with gentle pressure from a cotton swab helps. Once it has dried comes the sealing varnish, and only after that the weathering. If you plan heavy dusting, apply the decals first so that the dust lies over them and the markings look naturally settled into the surface.
