About product

Tatra 148 S1 1:72 - Brassica (a resin kit)

A resin kit for experienced modelers capturing the Tatra 148 S1 in 1:72 scale from Brassica. The package consists of good resin castings supplemented with a photo-etched fret, vacuum-formed glazing and a decal sheet. It is not injection-molded plastic - it is a short-run kit with a high level of detail that calls for more careful preparation of the parts.

The real subject

The Tatra 148 is a Czechoslovak heavy truck from Koprivnice, built from the beginning of the 1970s as the successor to the Tatra 138. The vehicle rested on the typical Tatra design - an air-cooled V8 diesel engine and a backbone chassis with swing half-axles, which gave it its famous mobility in difficult terrain. The S1 version is a one-way dump truck, used in construction, in agriculture and by the army. Tatra 148s were also exported in large numbers and rank among the notable Czech trucks.

Building and painting tips

First wash the mold release agent off the parts, carefully cut away the casting blocks and join them with super glue (cyanoacrylate); sand resin with respiratory protection. Cut the vacuum-formed glazing out with a margin and glue it with a clear adhesive. A primer evens the surface out and reveals any flaws. For a dump truck, utility shades with bold weathering work well - dust and mud pigments, scuffed paint on the edges and a wash effect bring out the character of a working vehicle.

Who the model is for

  • experienced modelers with experience of resin
  • fans of Czechoslovak and Czech Tatra trucks
  • collectors of trucks in 1:72 scale
  • anyone interested in short-run kits with high detail

The model is supplied unassembled and unpainted. Glue, paints and accessories are not included in the package, unless stated otherwise.
