About product

RLM 66 (1941) – AK 3rd Generation Acrylics AIR (17 ml)

A water-thinnable acrylic paint of 17 ml from the AIR aircraft range. RLM 66 (1941) corresponds to the later mix of the dark gray to gray-black tone. The paint is matte, sprays like a lacquer and is ready for an airbrush; it is thinned with water or with AK acrylic thinner and is non-toxic and non-flammable.

Historical use

RLM 66 Schwarzgrau became the standard color of German aircraft cockpits from the early 1940s and replaced the earlier RLM 02 in interiors. It covered instrument panels, controls and internal equipment and also appeared on anti-glare panels and on night fighters. The 1941 version captures this established mix.

Use

  • Thinned with water or with AK acrylic thinner; cleaned with water while wet.
  • Airbrushed unthinned or slightly thinned, usually at 15 to 20 psi.
  • Also suitable for a brush on small cockpit parts and instruments.
  • Best over a pre-sprayed base or over primer.

Who it is for

For modelers building the cockpits of German aircraft of the middle and late war period who want the established cockpit shade.

Shake before use. Work in a ventilated space, out of the reach of children.
