A set of four protective shields in 1:72 scale from the Czech maker Hauler, intended for builders of modern dioramas and vignettes. It is not a kit nor a set of figures but equipment with which finished figures are completed.
A protective shield is one of those elements that tell you at once what type of unit a scene shows. Figures in a small scale tend to be cast without equipment or with only the basic items, so a separately supplied shield lets you build a specific situation from an ordinary set of figures. The four pieces in the package are enough for a small group, or they can be divided among several vignettes.
Shields are among those parts that are best painted before they are fitted to a figure; once one is glued to a hand you can no longer reach the lower edge. The transparent area of the shield is imitated in this scale either with clear film or with a smooth gloss varnish that reflects light; a matte surface would read as sheet metal. It is better not to paint the lettering and markings freehand, as in 1:72 scale a merely suggested dark stripe works out better. Keep the weathering restrained, as shields in service tend to be scuffed on the edges rather than dusty.
