A plastic kit model of the Soviet experimental interceptor Mikoyan-Gurevich Ye-150 in 1:72 scale from the Ukrainian company Modelsvit. It is a newly developed tooling capturing a rare prototype of the sort that is not normally produced. The model is injection molded in plastic and is meant for anyone interested in the less common Soviet experimental types.
The Ye-150 was a single-seat prototype of a heavy interceptor designed at the Mikoyan-Gurevich design bureau at the turn of the 1950s and 1960s. It was powered by a single powerful R-15 turbojet and the machine reached a speed of over twice the speed of sound as well as a high service ceiling. It was fitted with automatic guidance to the target. Because of the short life of the R-15 engine it never went beyond test flights and the program was terminated; the lessons from it, however, advanced the development of further Soviet interceptors.
We recommend working with thin cement for plastic and dry-fitting the fuselage with its long nose and circular nose air intake before gluing. The model suits an airbrush; the metal surfaces of the prototype come out well with a good primer and metallic shades. Bring out the panel lines with a fine wash.
The model is supplied unassembled and unpainted. Glue, paints and accessories are not included in the package, unless stated otherwise.
