This car kit captures the Nissan Cima with the body designation Y31 for the 1989 model year, in the form by the Japanese studio Ohbayashi. The 1:24 scale is the standard for road cars, so the model fits into a collection of Japanese automobiles without trouble. Aoshima issues more than one form of the same car, differing in tuner and in year, so go by the body designation, the name of the studio and the year stated in the name when ordering.
The Cima was a luxury sedan that Nissan placed at the top of its home range at the end of the 1980s. The Y31 generation grew out of a large sedan with rear-wheel drive, received a force-fed V6 and a richly equipped interior, and became a symbol of the Japanese boom of the day. It is precisely the large rear-drive sedans of this period that are to this day the basis of the VIP style tuning direction, which works with a lowered chassis, wide wheels and a discreetly embellished body. The studio Ohbayashi is among the names bound up with that scene.
The body of a sedan has large smooth areas on which every unevenness shows. Before painting, sand the parting lines, polish the surface and apply a filler primer. Spray the paint with an airbrush in thin coats and let it cure honestly, and only then apply the gloss clear coat. The chrome window frames are easily brought out with a fine brush or with modeling foil. Finish the interior, the underside and the suspension before you close the body up.
The model is supplied unassembled and unpainted. Glue, paints and accessories are not included in the package, unless stated otherwise.
