Aoshima 1:24 Toyota AE85 Corolla Levin 1500SR, 1985 is a plastic kit of the production coupe with rear-wheel drive.
Responsibility details are not available.
An injection-molded plastic car kit in 1:24 scale from the Japanese maker Aoshima. The model depicts the Toyota Corolla Levin of the AE85 generation in the 1500SR trim as it was in 1985. Aoshima releases several versions of the Levin and of the related Trueno alongside one another, so it is necessary to tell them apart by the type designation, the tuner and the model year in the name.
The AE85 is the sister designation of the better-known AE86: the same body and the same concept with rear-wheel drive, but a weaker 1.5 liter engine and a more civilized tune. The Levin is told from the Trueno by its fixed headlights, while the Trueno has pop-up ones. The 1500SR trim was one of the more affordable sportier versions, so it is the kind of car you would commonly meet on Japanese roads in the 1980s. That is exactly where its charm lies: it is an ordinary version of a legendary generation, which modelers see in display cases far less often than a racing AE86.
With a production version it pays to devote time to the finish and the trim, because the car has no spoilers or loud schemes that would cover up any shortcomings. Spray over primer, sand lightly between coats and let the finish cure before polishing. Do the black window frames and the trim with a fine brush or a mask, as the cleanliness of the line decides the overall impression. An interior from the 1980s looks more convincing in shades of beige or gray than in pure black. Glue the glazing with glue for clear parts, as ordinary cement for plastic would fog it.
The model is supplied unassembled and unpainted. Glue, paints and accessories are not included in the package, unless stated otherwise.
