1:24 Supermarine Spitfire Mk.IXc 4th Fighter Squadron

Decals 1:24 Supermarine Spitfire Mk.IXc, 4th Fighter Squadron (Kits-World)

A printed sheet of decals for a model of the Spitfire Mk.IXc in 1:24 scale, tied according to the name to the markings of the 4th Fighter Squadron. This is neither a kit nor a part to be glued into a model; the decals are transferred with water onto a finished, painted and varnished surface. The sheet thus serves as an accessory to any model of the given type that you already have under construction.

Several similarly named sheets for the same aircraft exist. What decides is the exact product designation and the part number; order according to them.

Working with a decal

• A gloss varnish under a decal is a condition, not a recommendation. Without it silvering across the whole area of the printing is a risk.
• Lead the trim closely around the design, as needless film will later give itself away by reflections.
• The water should be lukewarm and the soaking brief, as long soaking washes the adhesive out of the carrier layer.
• Apply the softener sparingly and let it work, as the design draws itself into the lines while drying.
• Wash the dried surface with a damp towel to remove residues of adhesive, otherwise they will stay visible under the varnish.
• A final matte or satin varnish will unify the surface of the whole model.

Who it is for

For builders of large scales who want to take a model to the particular form of a machine and for whom the markings from the box are not enough. Working with decals in 1:24 scale is calmer than in small scales, because the printing is large and easily handled, but at the same time every mistake in the seating will be seen in the result.

Decals are not a kit. A model, paints, varnish and a softener are not included in the package.
