Color decals with a raised relief for the instrument panel of the late Spitfires powered by the Rolls-Royce Griffon engine, 1:48 scale. The set is applied as a decal and gives the cockpit both color and depth without painting the individual instruments. It is an accessory for a plastic model.
The Mk.XIV and Mk.XVIII versions belong to the late configurations of the British single-seat Supermarine Spitfire fighter. Compared with the earlier Merlin-engined machines they received the more powerful and longer Rolls-Royce Griffon engine, which showed in a longer nose, a five-blade propeller and an enlarged vertical tail surface. The cockpit stayed tight, which makes the instrument panel in it markedly exposed.
A relief decal differs from a flat one in having a thickness of its own. The base therefore has to be smooth and gloss, otherwise air will be trapped under the decal and the surface will silver. Cut the decal as close as you can, release it in lukewarm water and seat it on its target surface without needless sliding. Apply the softener drop by drop along the edges and let it work by itself, leaving the decal undisturbed for at least 45 minutes; do not run a brush over the relief, or the raised details will be squashed or torn off. When it is dry, go over the surroundings with matte varnish and leave the dials themselves gloss, so that they read as glass.
