It is not a vehicle kit but an add-on: the figure is built for the turret hatch of a finished model, or else for a cargo bed or a vignette. The expression War daddy is part of the manufacturer's trade designation and is not interpreted here. The figure is supplied unassembled and unpainted.
The casting is divided into the torso with the clothing, the head, the arms and the small items of equipment. Such a breakdown lets the mold pick up the folds of the cloth, the collar, the straps and harness and the undercuts beneath the arms. Each part is held on a casting block, and the mold seam lines are carried along the sides of the figure and along the inner side of the limbs, where the trace of sanding is best lost. The jacket, the pockets and the buckles are brought out as raised relief that only needs picking out with paint.
Wash the casting in lukewarm water with dish soap, so that the mold release agent disappears. Cut the casting block off with a saw away from the detail, sand the face down and protect your airways while sanding resin. Glue with super glue (cyanoacrylate) and apply a thin primer. With a commander in a hatch it is above all the upper half of the body that shows, so concentrate on the face and the shoulders: build the skin from a middle tone, put a darker glaze into the eye sockets and the folds and a lighter stroke on the cheekbones and the nose. Paint the clothing from the base shade, support the recesses with a dark wash and lighten the edges of the folds. Make the leather of the straps and the holsters noticeably darker than the uniform and leave it a light satin, while the cloth stays matte. Before fitting, try the figure dry in the hatch — with commander figures the bottom of the torso usually has to be sanded down so that it sits without a gap.
