The subject matches winter dress: over the uniform a white camouflage oversuit was worn in winter conditions, with a helmet or headgear, a belt with pouches and a personal weapon. In 1:35 scale a standing figure is roughly fifty millimeters, a size in which the shading of the face and the texture of the cloth both come into their own.
Before painting, wash the figure in lukewarm water with detergent; that degreases the surface and removes any residue from manufacture. Apply a thin primer, ideally sprayed. Never paint a white oversuit in pure white: start with light gray or gray-beige, add a cold gray-blue tone into the shadows and leave white only on the highest edges of the folds. Winter oversuits got dirty fast in the field, so a brown filter or a thin wash on the lower part of the figure looks believable. Build the face and hands up from a mid flesh tone through shadow in the eye sockets to a gentle highlight on the cheekbones and nose. Finish the metal parts of the weapon with a dark graphite tone and the leather with brown paint and matte varnish.
