Ten large sheet-metal cans in 1:72 scale. A prop for scenes around a model, not a kit.
A forty-liter can only catches the eye once several of them are visible together. Ten pieces allow them to be laid out on a ramp, part of them loaded onto a bed and the rest stood in a row by a fence, exactly as such vessels used to stand by farms, dairies and the turn-off from a road. Action thus arises in the scene: someone brought them here and someone will come for them.
Vessels in 1:72 have no room for layering, but they respond superbly to contrast. A dark base, a pass of the metal shade from above and a thin dark tone run into the hollows will create the impression of sheet metal without a single stroke of detail. Deliberately shade several cans differently, so that the group does not look cast all at once. The lids can take a light gloss and the body a more matte surface instead, and the difference between them will create the impression of wear. Before seating them, make sure that all the vessels stand upright: a leaning cylinder in 1:72 gives away at once that the piece was added afterwards. Lay a group on a ramp out dry first, therefore, and only then glue it.
