Art Scale offers small turnbuckles for the bracing wires of aircraft models in the large 1:32 scale. One package holds two size variants, so on a single machine you can deal with the load-bearing as well as the auxiliary wires. The set does not replace a kit; it is an accessory for refining the bracing between the wings, the fuselage and the landing gear.
On the real aircraft the turnbuckles served to tension the steel cables that held the flying surfaces in the right position. On the biplanes of the First World War as well as on interwar machines they are clearly visible and they decide whether a model looks credible. They also come into their own on gliders, floatplanes and anywhere cables are run over end fittings and levers.
Work with tweezers over a light surface, as small parts are easily lost. Run the finest drill through the holes in the end fittings so that a filament passes through them. A thin elastic thread or stretched monofilament, which can be tensioned with heat once glued, has proved itself as the cable. Prime the parts first and only then paint them a metal shade; secure the finished joints with a drop of thin cyanoacrylate glue.
Cables, glue and paints are not included in the package.
