Kabuki paper masks for a 1:48 model of the Cessna O-2A Skymaster, EXPERT range, cut for the Revell 038149 kit.
Responsibility details are not available.
The O-2A Skymaster is an observation and liaison aircraft derived from a civil twin-engine Cessna. Its powerplant layout is unusual: two piston engines sit in line one behind the other on the fuselage axis, one at the front with a tractor propeller and one at the rear with a pusher propeller, and the tail surfaces are carried on a pair of booms. The US Air Force used these machines to direct air support from low altitude, where the good view out of the glazed cockpit came in handy.
The glazing of the O-2A covers a large area and the frames are thin, so masking by hand with tape costs a lot of time and the result tends to be uneven. Pre-cut kabuki paper masks stick straight onto the glass, follow the curves and leave no adhesive once peeled off. The paper is thin and pliable, so it can be pressed into curved surfaces as well. The set belongs to the EXPERT range and is cut for the Revell kit numbered 038149.
Wash and degrease the glazing first, or the mask will not take hold. Lift the elements out with tweezers or a pointed blade, lay them on the glass and press the edges down carefully with a toothpick so that no paint creeps under them. Spray the frame shade from inside the cockpit first, then the top color. Take the masks off once the paint has dried and pull them at an angle across the edge, not straight up.
The aircraft kit, the paints and the glue are not included in the delivery, unless stated otherwise.
