A nameplate for a model of the Japanese battlecruiser Kirishima in her 1915 state in 1:700 scale by the manufacturer Kajika. It is not a model of the ship but an accessory for displaying her.
Responsibility details are not available.
This item is not a kit of the ship but a nameplate, that is a plate with the name of the ship, with which the presentation of a finished model in a display case or at a show is rounded out. Kajika issues it as part of a family of accessories for its model of the battlecruiser Kirishima in her 1915 state, for which it also offers photo-etched parts, a wooden deck, a mask set and a display base.
Kirishima was one of the four units of the Japanese Kongo class, a line of fast battlecruisers from the time before the First World War. The lead ship of the class was built in Great Britain, while Kirishima was built in Japan. The main armament consisted of eight guns of 356 mm in four twin turrets, complemented by a battery of medium guns in casemates. The 1915 state captures the ship shortly after completion, that is with her original silhouette before the later extensive reconstructions.
The nameplate is fitted right at the very end, after the model has been finished and dusted off. Do any surface treatment away from the model, so that neither dust nor overspray reaches the finished ship. Before fixing it permanently, try the position dry and check that the plate does not get in the way of the view of the bow or of the rigging. The caption deserves the same care as the model, because it is the first thing a viewer in a display case reads.
