Resin replacement wheels in 1:35 scale for the Italian Lancia 3Ro heavy truck. This version carries a civilian, commercial tread pattern, that is tires of ordinary road production as the vehicles received them in series. The set is not a model of the vehicle, it is an exchange of parts on a kit already built.
The Lancia 3Ro was an Italian heavy truck with a diesel engine, used both as a transport and as a tractor platform. The vehicles ran on ordinary road tires as well as on off-road variants depending on their service, and the tread is therefore a crucial distinguishing feature of a particular vehicle. Resin wheels give a modeler the chance to choose that feature instead of making do with the single form from the box. The castings also tend to render the sidewall lettering and the compression of the tire more faithfully, which injection molded plastic simplifies because of the way the mold is split.
Wash the wheels in warm water with dish soap, cut the casting blocks off with a saw and level the mating surface so that the vehicle stands straight on all its wheels. Before gluing, check on a flat board that all the wheels touch the base. It is glued with super glue. Do not paint the tire pure black; a very dark gray with a touch of brown works better, with the tread lightly lightened by dust pigment and the sidewall lifted with a dry brush so that the lettering stands out. Paint the rim separately, as a masking circle or a fine brush helps keep the transition sharp. If the set offers a loaded form, make sure the flat spot lies on the ground.
This is a resin accessory, not a complete kit. The wheels are supplied unpainted; paints, glue and the base model are not included in the package, unless stated otherwise.
