A diorama base of a heavy gun firing position, North Africa and Italy, 1:35 from PANZER ART. A resin accessory for building a scene, not a model of a gun.
Responsibility details are not available.
A resin diorama accessory in 1:35 scale meant for building the firing position of a heavy artillery gun in the setting of North Africa and Italy. It is neither a model of a gun nor a kit of a vehicle — it is the base of a scene, that is a cast ground piece on which you place the gun and around which you then build the rest of the diorama. The casting brings an articulated surface that is laborious to create from filler and sand, and above all it gives the scene the right proportion between weapon and ground from the start.
A heavy gun on a flat board is always a problem: on its own it is tall and narrow, and without ground it looks like an exhibit at a show rather than a weapon in position. A base under it deals with that shortcoming — it seats the gun in the ground, gives it the outline of a position and creates a natural place for the crew, ammunition containers, crates and other small equipment. The tuning to the setting of North Africa and Italy sets the character of the surface: dry, light and dusty ground with a rocky and stony share.
Wash the casting in lukewarm water with dish soap and let it dry thoroughly. Cut the casting remains off with a saw and sand the surfaces wet and with your airways protected. If you are going to set the base into a larger plinth, adapt the edges before painting. Paint from the darkest tone in the hollows to a light one on the raised faces, best with an airbrush in several thin coats; a unifying filter then settles the whole surface. A dry brush pulls out the structure of the stones, and a fine dust pigment applied dry adds the final layer. Always work the transition between the base and the wheels or trails of the gun in with a small heap of ground and pigment — otherwise it will be apparent that the gun merely stands on the ground.
The accessory is supplied unassembled and unpainted, and neither the model of the gun nor figures are part of the package. Glue, paints and other accessories are not part of the delivery, unless stated otherwise.
