1:144 AN/ALQ 184 long version

A jamming pod in 1:144 scale

The AN/ALQ-184 electronic warfare pod in the long version, an accessory for models of combat aircraft in 1:144 scale. For a model it means the same as for a real machine: an elongated body on an external station that gives away at first glance what task the aircraft was sent on. It is precisely the stores that make the main part of the difference in a small scale between two otherwise identical models. The number of pieces in the package is given in the manufacturer's description.

What the pod is for

Jamming pods of this kind protect an aircraft by disrupting the work of an opponent's radars and guidance systems. They are carried by combat machines of the US Air Force and are hung according to the nature of the task, so in photographs of the same aircraft they are sometimes there and sometimes not. The words long version in the name distinguish the longer variant of the pod from the shorter one.

Working with the part

• wash and degrease the part before painting, otherwise the paint will not hold
• cut the excess material away with a sharp blade a little from the part and sand the remainder
• try the placement on the station dry, as in 1:144 scale a deviation shows
• apply the paint in thin coats, as a heavy coat covers the shape at this scale
• the suitable glue and the preparation procedure are given in the manufacturer's instructions

Who it is for

For builders of modern combat aircraft in a small scale who want armament and stores matching a particular task, and for completing kits that do not include the pod. The kit of the aircraft, paints and glue are not part of the delivery, unless stated otherwise.
