Responsibility details are not available.
The subject is a sailor of the Austro-Hungarian war fleet of the period of the First World War. The 1:10 scale stands in the name and is large enough for the stripes on the collar and the ribbon on the cap to stand out.
The war navy of the monarchy had its main base at Pula in Istria and operated in the Adriatic Sea. The crews were nationally mixed, men from all the lands of the monarchy serving side by side in them, Czechs among them, and the language of command was German. Besides large surface ships the fleet leaned on torpedo units and submarines, whose deployment in a narrow and shallow sea had its own particulars. The end of the war meant the dissolution of the fleet and the division of the vessels among the successor states.
Sailor's dress rests on two areas: the blouse and the collar with its stripes. Never paint the light cloth pure white over the whole area; lay it in gray-blue and brighten only the peaks of the folds. Mark the stripes on the collar in thinly first and only then strengthen them, as correcting their width later is difficult. The ribbon on the cap and the sewn-on badges belong right at the very end. Keep the face in a natural tone with a light tan, which suits service on deck.
