A kit of the Soviet self-propelled gun and tank destroyer SU-85 in the small 1:100 scale from the maker Zvezda. It is a snap-fit model from the Art of Tactic gaming range: the parts join by clipping together and as a rule no glue is needed to build it. The model suits both play and a quick display build.
The SU-85 was a Soviet self-propelled tank destroyer of the Second World War. It was created on the chassis of the T-34 medium tank and carried a powerful 85 mm gun that could threaten even the heavier German tanks. It entered service in 1943 in response to the need for a mobile antitank weapon. A low silhouette and good mobility were among its strengths.
In 1:100 scale the model is small, so clean the parts up carefully to avoid damage. Even on a snap-fit model we recommend securing the joints with a drop of glue for strength. For weathering, a restrained wash in the recesses and light dust pigments on the running gear are enough; at this scale choose the effects sparingly, so that the model does not look overdone.
The model is supplied unassembled and unpainted. Glue, paints and accessories are not included in the package, unless stated otherwise.
