It completes the assemblies that the kit treats in a simplified way, without being the most extensive format of this manufacturer; the manufacturer also issues a markedly more comprehensive set for the same season, so it pays to compare which variant you need.
The Yamaha YZR-M1 of the 2009 season was a factory prototype of the premier class of road racing from the era of 800 cc engines, with a liquid-cooled inline four-cylinder engine. The crankshaft in the crossplane configuration gives the machine its characteristic sound and a smoother delivery of torque. The 2009 season was a title-winning one for this machine, which makes it one of the most frequently built machines of this era.
The detailing parts are aimed at the places where a plastic molding cannot keep the thickness or the structure to scale: the brake discs and calipers, the routing of the brake and fuel hoses, wire clips, mountings and hardware with realistic bolt heads. The work is done continuously during the build, because a number of the parts are later covered by the fairing or the tank.
Try the parts dry and note the order of assembly. Wash the resin and metal parts in warm soapy water to rid them of the remains of the mold release agent, and bond them with super glue applied in a small amount. Degrease the metal before painting and lay a base color for metal under the paint. Heat the hoses briefly before shaping them, as the curve then holds and the material does not kink.
