1:1200 German Armoured Cruiser SMS Blücher is a collector's model of the German armored cruiser SMS Blücher in the small scale of 1:1200.
Responsibility details are not available.
The model captures the German armored cruiser SMS Blücher in 1:1200 scale. It is the smallest of the commonly used ship scales, in which even a large warship comes out at up to twenty centimeters in length. That is exactly why small scales suit cases where there is little room in a display case, or where you want to set a whole squadron side by side in a comparable ratio.
SMS Blücher was the last armored cruiser of the Imperial German Navy. She came into being still to an older design requirement, at a time when her rivals were already moving over to faster battlecruisers with heavy armament. The result was a ship well armored and decently fast, but with artillery weaker than that of the opponents she finally came up against. In January 1915 she took part in the action at Dogger Bank, where after being hit she fell behind the force and was sunk. Her fate is still given as a telling example of how quickly the arrival of the battlecruiser devalued the older concept.
In this scale cleanness of work decides more than the amount of detail. Clean the parts up with care, because every scratch shows once varnished. Apply the paint in thin layers, ideally with an airbrush; a heavy layer would flood the fine texture of the decks and the superstructures. A weak dark wash and fine drybrushing of the edges will serve to bring things out. The model shows to advantage on a simple base with a water surface.
