A plastic kit of the American Kenworth W-900 conventional truck in dump form, that is with a body for bulk materials. The model is in 1:25 scale and comes from the American brand Monogram. Truck kits in this scale belong among the more sizeable and more broken-down models, the kind that show well in a display case as well as in a diorama.
The Kenworth W-900 is one of the best-known American conventional trucks. It is produced in many forms from long-haul tractors with sleeper cabs to construction vehicles, and the dump version is one of the classic working uses: a short wheelbase, a tough chassis and a body that tips over a rear pivot. The characteristic features of the truck are the long hood, the boxy cab, the chrome radiator grille and the vertical exhaust stacks behind the cab.
Work from the frame: assemble and paint the chassis, the axles and the drivetrain before you fit the cab and the body. Do not glue the chrome-plated parts, of which there are many on American trucks, with cyanoacrylate, whose fumes will fog the chrome. It is a good idea to spray the cab with a filler primer and to paint it in thin coats; the decals are then applied on a gloss base. The body and the chassis, by contrast, should be picked out with a dark wash, dust pigments and fine abrasion of the edges, so that the truck looks like a working machine and not like a model from a shop window.
The model is supplied unassembled and unpainted. Glue, paints and accessories are not included in the package, unless stated otherwise.
