The Des Moines was an American heavy cruiser of postwar design and the lead ship of its class. The main armament was made up of automatically loaded 203 mm guns in three turrets, thanks to which the ship had a markedly higher rate of fire than older cruisers. A tall superstructure, a massive mast with an array of radars and numerous anti-aircraft armament along the sides are characteristic.
In 1:700 scale the detail parts are really small, so have a sharp knife, tweezers and good light ready. Fit the parts as the build goes along, not onto a finished model, so that you can reach the places that will later be closed up. Bend any etched components over a metal ruler and glue them with cyanoacrylate glue applied with a pin. Leave railings and fine structures until the end of the build, so that they do not get bent while handling the model, and apply the paint to them in thin coats.
The set is an accessory to a model, not a standalone kit. The base model, glue and paints are not included in the package, unless stated otherwise.
