Antares is an American two-stage launch vehicle developed for carrying supply craft to the International Space Station. It launches from the east coast of the United States and its payload consists of supplies, equipment and scientific experiments for the crew of the station. During its service the rocket went through several changes of the first stage powerplant, so the individual versions differ from one another in details of the rear end. The name does not specify which particular standard the model captures.
Rockets are among the models that are simple to build but merciless to the surface: on a long cylindrical body every unevenness and every unsmoothed joint is visible. Fill the joints carefully, therefore, sand them with fine paper and polish the surface before painting. Light shades call for a good primer and several thin coats, because one heavy coat floods the detail. Mask the transitions of color precisely, since sharp edges make the whole impression on a rocket. The finished model is tall and slender, so prepare a stable base or a stand for it.
The model is supplied unassembled and unpainted. Glue, paints and accessories are not included in the package, unless stated otherwise.
