An accessory in 1:144 scale with the CFM56-5C engine for models of the Airbus A340.
Responsibility details are not available.
The CFM56-5C is a version of the extensive range of CFM56 turbofan engines, adapted for the Airbus A340. Compared with the weaker branches of the range it has a larger fan diameter and a longer nacelle, so it differs from the engines of the smaller Airbus aircraft at a glance. The A340 carries four such engines, two under each half of the wing, and it is precisely their shape that gives a model its characteristic silhouette.
This set in 1:144 scale is intended to replace the engine nacelles on a model of an airliner. Before buying, compare the length and diameter of the nacelle with the parts you want to replace, and check in the instructions of the manufacturer how many nacelles the package holds; the aircraft needs four of them. The attachment to the pylon tends to be the most sensitive place of the whole job, so fit the part dry first and check the angle and the distance from the wing.
Cut the excess material away with a sharp blade a little way from the part and sand the remainder with fine paper, so the circular shape of the intake is preserved. Then wash and degrease the parts, otherwise paint holds badly on a smooth surface. Choose the glue according to the material of the parts and according to the instructions of the manufacturer. Apply the metal shades of the nacelle in thin coats, otherwise the fine division of the covers will be lost.
The set will appeal to modelers of airliners who are building the A340 in 1:144 scale and want engines more accurate than those in a base kit. This is an accessory, not a whole model; paints and glue are not included, unless stated otherwise.
