A sheet of water-slide decals in 1:144 scale for marking a finished model of the Embraer 170 regional jet. The markings refer to two North American regional brands under which machines operated by the partner companies of large carriers flew. It is neither a kit nor a finished model but an accessory: you obtain the model of the aircraft, the paints and the varnish separately.
The Embraer 170 is a Brazilian twin-engine regional jet from the E-Jet family. It has a wider fuselage than older regional machines, four-abreast seating and a single aisle, engines hung under the wing and conventional tail surfaces. In North America the type established itself in the regional networks of large carriers, where services under their trade name were operated by separate partner companies. The aircraft therefore carried the corporate livery of the main carrier supplemented by the designation of the regional program, which makes them a rewarding subject for modelers who collect variants of one type.
Work on a smooth gloss base: on a matte finish air is trapped under the carrier film and a silvery edge is left around the decal. Cut the subject out close to the printing, dip it for ten to thirty seconds in lukewarm water and let it rest until it starts to slide along the paper. Settle it on a drop of water, line it up and press the excess out with a soft brush from the center to the edges. Divide the continuous fuselage lines and window bands into shorter sections, otherwise they break while being moved. Apply the decal softener only onto a positioned decal and let it work without touching it, even if the film wrinkles temporarily. Once it is perfectly dry, seal the model with a clear coat in the degree of sheen you want.
