An auxiliary fuel tank in 1:144 scale for models of the F-16, in the version with a capacity of 600 gallons. On combat aircraft auxiliary tanks are hung on pylons under the fuselage and under the wings and serve to extend range or loiter time; they can be jettisoned in flight if needed. On a model it is a conspicuous element that changes the overall silhouette of the machine, so the set suits above all a model that is to represent an aircraft in a long-range or transit configuration.
A replacement for the tank from a kit in this small scale, where the shape tends to be simplified and the surface detail suppressed. The exact extent of the package and the recommended position on the pylon are given in the manufacturer's instructions. In 1:144 scale what decides the result is above all a clean shape and a smooth surface, because on a small model every unevenness is clearly visible.
Before gluing, wash the parts in lukewarm water with a drop of dish soap and let them dry. Cut the excess material away with a sharp blade a little from the part and sand the remainder, so that the surface of the tank itself is not damaged. The suitable glue is given in the manufacturer's instructions; with accessory parts super glue is used universally. Try the hanging dry first and watch that the tank hangs vertically and parallel to the axis of the aircraft. Apply a primer before painting.
For modelers who build aircraft in 1:144 scale and want to refine their underwing equipment. The model, paints and glue are not part of the delivery, unless stated otherwise.
