1:144 GUNDAM DECAL 122 MS GUNDAM HATHAWAY MULTIUSE 1

1:144 Gundam Decal 122 — MS Gundam Hathaway Multiuse 1

A decal sheet from the numbered range that Bandai issues as an accessory to its mecha models. Unlike the sheets with no scale given, this one is intended for models in 1:144 scale, that is for the most common format of mecha kits. The Multiuse designation means a general-purpose set of markings, lettering and technical captions that are not tied to a single machine. Thematically the sheet covers markings for models from the Gundam Hathaway series.

What the decals are for

In 1:144 scale the areas of a model are small and any detail counts. Fine captions and warning markings break up empty areas of color and give the model its sense of scale, without your having to reach for an airbrush. A general-purpose sheet also lasts over more than one build, because you use the motifs up gradually.

How to apply the decals

• Work with smooth-jawed tweezers, as small motifs are easily creased.
• Unify the area under the decal with a gloss clear coat; on a matte surface silvery edges appear.
• Separate the motifs with a scalpel close to the edge, so that you do not waste the sheet needlessly.
• Apply them one at a time and adjust the position while the decal can still be moved.
• At the end, varnish with a matte varnish, which hides the edges of the carrier completely.

Who the sheet is for

• For builders of mecha models in 1:144 scale.
• For modelers building machines from the Gundam Hathaway series.
• For those who want a general-purpose sheet for more than one build rather than a single-use set.

This is an accessory, not a model. The kit, paints and varnish are not included in the package.
