Precisely cut self-adhesive masks in 1:144 scale from the Czech manufacturer Peewit. In this scale the cockpit of a model is so small that hand lining the frame with a brush practically does not lead to a clean result, and a ready-made mask therefore brings the greatest saving of effort precisely here. The set is neither a kit nor decals, but an accessory to a model that is obtained separately.
The Lockheed F-104 Starfighter was a single-engine supersonic aircraft with a very thin and short straight wing and a slim fuselage, adapted for rapid climb and for flight at high speed. In the service of a number of states it filled the role of an interceptor as well as a strike machine and became one of the most widespread Western types of its generation. Characteristic is the long pointed nose and the high-set tail surface, thanks to which the silhouette is recognizable even in a small scale.
Take the small masks off the sheet with the tip of a scalpel and transfer them with smooth-jawed tweezers, so that the film is not dented. Degrease the glazing before sticking them on, as any grease in this scale means the paint flowing under. Seat the mask dry and only then press it down with a piece of wood; with the smallest pieces a rounded stick is proven. Fill in the rest of the glazing that the mask does not cover with thin strips of masking tape. Apply the paint with an airbrush really finely, as a heavy layer in 1:144 swallows the detail of the frame. Before removing the mask, go over the edge with the tip of a knife, so that the paintwork does not tear while being peeled off. Finish the model with gloss clear under the decals and a matte overcoat right at the end.
This is an accessory to a model, not a kit. The model, paints and masking tape are not included in the package.
