This item is a decal set in 1:144 scale from Mark I, not a kit. It holds cross markings for models of the Messerschmitt Bf 109E fighter. It serves as an accessory to a model that you build separately — there is no plastic, no paint and no glue in the package. The exact number of decals, the dimensions of the sheet and the list of schemes are stated on the box; compare the contents with the model you have in mind for the set before you buy.
The Messerschmitt Bf 109E was a single-seat single-engine fighter of all-metal construction with a liquid-cooled inverted V12 engine, an enclosed cockpit and retractable landing gear. The E version was among the numerously built series of this type at the turn of the 1930s and 1940s. In 1:144 scale the span of a model comes out at only around seven centimeters, so high demands are placed on the fineness of the printing and on the register of the individual colors of the markings.
Decals behave best on a smooth gloss surface — so once painted, varnish the area with a gloss clear coat and only then apply the decals. Cut the individual motifs out as closely as possible, soak them in clean lukewarm water and let them rest until the film releases from the backing paper by itself. Once moved into place, draw the excess water off with a soft cloth, and at a small scale work with a damp brush rather than tweezers. Use decal softener carefully and, once dry, unify the whole surface with a matte or satin varnish, so that the edges of the film disappear.
This is a set of decals, not a kit. The model, paints and glue are not included in the package, unless stated otherwise.
