Circular chamfered trimming file is a U-STAR file for chamfering and cleaning up circular edges, typically on drilled holes and the mouths of exhausts and barrels, where the wall should look thin.
Responsibility details are not available.
A tool from the U-STAR range intended, according to its name, for chamfering the edges of circular shapes. In practice it is used to rework the mouths of tubular parts and the rims of holes, that is the places where injection-molded plastic looks unnaturally thick and where simply sanding the surface cannot improve anything.
A hole that has been drilled or molded always has a sharp edge and a wall whose thickness matches the strength of the part rather than the scale of the original. On the mouth of an exhaust, a barrel or a radiator intake it is one of the most conspicuous flaws, and the eye notices it sooner than a missing detail. Chamfering the edge from the inside visually thins the wall without having to drill the part out to a larger diameter, and the hole at once looks like a hole and not like a dimple. The same procedure is used on circular vents, fuel tank caps and the stubs under wheels.
Hold the tool at a right angle to the axis of the hole and turn it in one direction, not back and forth, because one-way movement gives a more even edge. Keep the pressure light and check as you go, because a chamfer can only be added, not taken back. On thin-walled parts it is better to strengthen the hole in advance by supporting it from the inside, otherwise it may crack. After chamfering, smooth the burrs away with a fine abrasive and rinse or blow the hole out so that no swarf is left in it to show up later under the paint.
