1:100 Befehlswagen II is a resin kit of the German command vehicle derived from the light tank Pz.Kpfw. II.
Responsibility details are not available.
Command tanks tend to be overlooked in collections, and yet without them armored forces would not have worked. This item covers one in the small 1:100 scale as a resin casting from the Zebrano brand and adds to its wide range of light vehicles from the first years of the war.
A unit commander needed far more than firepower: he needed reliable communications. German command tanks therefore carried a second radio set, were served by a dedicated radio operator and could as a rule be told apart at a glance by the aerial fit. Ordinary production vehicles became the basis, with part of the armament or of the interior equipment giving way to radio gear and a map table. The subject of this item is such a solution built on the chassis of the light tank Pz.Kpfw. II, that is, the machine that formed the backbone of the tank divisions of 1940.
With command vehicles it pays to give attention to the aerial fit, because that is exactly what sets the model apart from an ordinary tank in the unit. If the thin casting breaks while being cut off the block, a piece of stretched wire or a bristle glued with cyanoacrylate into a pre-drilled hole will replace it. In terms of color the vehicle stood out in no way, so reach for the same shade as for the rest of the company and set it apart only with fine dust and with traces of the heavier use that a command vehicle saw.
The set is supplied broken down into individual castings, unpainted and with no glue in the package.
