The range of scales from 1:20 to 1:24 given in the name means that the parts are designed to suit models of both the usual automobile scales in size. The numeral in the name tells the individual variants of this range apart. The set is not a model of a car; it is a replacement for the parts of the base kit.
Why it pays to change the shock absorbers: a shock absorber is a structurally complex part with a visible shaft, spring and mounting. Injection-molded plastic manages it only in a simplified way, usually as a single piece with a suggested spring. A replacement from a detailing set divides this assembly into genuinely separate elements, so that even under a hood or in the exposed suspension of a single-seater it looks more faithful.
It is fitted while building the suspension, that is, right at the opening stage of the chassis build and before the body is closed up. On formula cars the result is visible directly, while on closed cars it tells mainly on models built with the hood open or on a diorama with the car raised.
First check the overall length of the shock absorber dry, as it determines the ride height of the car, and if you change it the model will sit differently. Degrease the metal and resin elements and give them a base color. Paint the spring separately from the body of the shock absorber, as the result is then far more legible. Bond with super glue in a minimal amount applied with the tip of a wire.
