A large plastic kit of the Chinese guided missile destroyer Type 051C (DDG-115 Shenyang) in the striking 1:200 scale from the manufacturer Trumpeter. The kit holds a richly detailed hull, well worked superstructure and photo-etched parts for railings, ladders and fine detail. The model is supplied unassembled and unpainted.
The Type 051C is a Chinese guided missile destroyer aimed at the air defense of task forces. It carries the Russian RIF-M surface-to-air missile system with vertical launch housed in rotating launch silos, together with a powerful radar with fixed antennas. It entered service in the second half of the first decade of this century; the sister ship is DDG-116 Shijiazhuang.
On a large ship model we recommend building in subassemblies (hull, decks, superstructure) and gluing the photo-etched parts with cyanoacrylate glue. The hull can be done as a full hull or as a waterline. Apply a primer before painting, spray the base shades with an airbrush and set the deck off in a darker color. A fine wash and a dry brush will bring out the railings and the detail of the superstructure; set the finished model on a stand or into a diorama.
The model is supplied unassembled and unpainted. Glue, paints and accessories are not included in the package, unless stated otherwise.
