Trumpeter Douglas TBD-1 Devastator 1:200 (5 in the box) is a set of five small plastic models of the American carrier-based torpedo bomber for filling out models of aircraft carriers.
Responsibility details are not available.
An injection-molded plastic set of five small models of the American Douglas TBD-1 Devastator carrier-based torpedo bomber in 1:200 scale from Trumpeter. The box holds five aircraft and a photo-etched part for the fine details. This is primarily an addition to models of aircraft carriers and to dioramas of deck scenes in the same scale, not a large stand-alone aircraft model.
The Douglas TBD Devastator was a carrier-based torpedo bomber of the US Navy, in its day one of the first all-metal monoplanes with powered surfaces and folding wings on carrier decks. It is best known for its tragic commitment at the Battle of Midway in 1942, where the torpedo squadrons took heavy losses. After Midway the type was quickly withdrawn from the front line.
Given the small scale, work with a sharp knife and a magnifier; glue the photo-etched parts with CA glue. We recommend spraying the base shade on with an airbrush first and handling the markings with small decals or a fine brush. The models serve well to fill the deck of a 1:200 aircraft carrier model or as part of a waterline diorama.
The model is supplied unassembled and unpainted. Glue, paints and accessories are not included in the package, unless stated otherwise.
