A flagship large-format plastic kit of the American battleship USS Iowa (BB-61) in the imposing 1:200 scale from the manufacturer Trumpeter. The extensive kit with its richly detailed hull, decks and superstructure is one of the showpiece ship projects; the assembled model reaches remarkable dimensions. The model is supplied unassembled and unpainted.
USS Iowa was the lead ship of the class of American battleships of the same name. The main armament consisted of nine 406 mm (sixteen inch) guns in three gun turrets. The ships of the Iowa class were among the fastest battleships of their day and, after repeated modernizations, served again in the 1980s. Iowa ranks among the best known battleships in history.
On a model this large, build in subassemblies and count on a longer build time. The hull can be done as a full hull or as a waterline. You can bring the wooden deck to life with a careful shade and fine accenting of the planks, and the steel areas with a base gray through an airbrush. Consider a sturdy stand or a display case; photo-etched accessories and rigging will lift the look further.
The model is supplied unassembled and unpainted. Glue, paints and accessories are not included in the package, unless stated otherwise.
