An add-on set for a model of the battleship USS Missouri or USS Iowa in her 1944 form, in 1:200 scale. It is prepared for the kit from Trumpeter.
Responsibility details are not available.
USS Iowa and USS Missouri are sister battleships of the Iowa class, the largest surface warships the US Navy ever built. The main armament was made up of nine 406 mm guns in three rotating turrets, two of them forward and one aft, supplemented by a battery of dual-purpose guns and by a dense anti-aircraft defense. The 1944 form matches the wartime deployment in the Pacific. It was on the deck of the Missouri that the Japanese surrender was signed in Tokyo Bay on 2 September 1945.
According to the name the set is prepared for the model in 1:200 scale from Trumpeter. The real ship measured about 270 meters, so the model is over 1.3 meters long and every addition shows well on it. This is an advanced add-on line, so count on extra work compared with the basic build.
Before you start, go through the instructions for the set as well as for the kit itself and lay out which kit parts are being replaced and which are fitted only at the end. Separate the small parts with a sharp blade a little way from the part and sand the rest. Choose the glue according to the material of the particular parts; on a large ship it pays to glue in smaller assemblies and to let them dry thoroughly before the hull starts being turned over.
For builders of large ship models who want to take the detail beyond the basic kit and do not mind longer work with small parts. The ship kit itself, the paints and the glue are not included in the package, unless stated otherwise.
