Traffic cones in 1:24 scale, set number two. A cone is a small thing nobody notices in a photograph until it is missing. A built scene gains scale and a story with it straight away: a closed lane, a marked-off bay in a service shop, a cordoned-off aisle in a depot or the site of an accident on the road.
The set belongs in dioramas with a roadway, in garage and service scenes and with car models on a base, where two or three pieces are enough to suggest the setting. It goes well with other small things in the same scale, such as crates, bottles or pressure cylinders.
Before painting, wash the parts, degrease them and let them dry, then apply a thin primer. The cones are sprayed in a strong orange or red and completed with a white stripe; the stripe is easier to spray through a narrow mask than to paint with a brush. Light dusting of the lower part and a darker deposit where the cone meets the roadway will help the credibility. Choose the glue according to the material of the parts; on a smooth surface super glue applied in a small amount holds best.
For builders of dioramas and car models in 1:24 scale who want to populate a scene with small things. The painting is simple and the set can be managed by less experienced modelers too; it can also be set up without a base, straight onto a finished roadway.
