Pre-cut masks for a model of the OV-10A Bronco aircraft in 1:72 scale from the Czech manufacturer Peewit. The masks are stuck onto the areas that are to stay free of paint during spraying and are removed once it has dried. With the Bronco this is particularly useful, because its forward nacelle is glazed almost all the way around and cutting out all the frames from masking tape by hand is tedious work with an uncertain result in a small scale. It is not a model and not parts for a kit, but an accessory for the painting stage.
The OV-10 Bronco came about as an aircraft for reconnaissance, control of air support and light strikes in counterinsurgency operations. It has a high-set wing, two tail booms and a pair of turboprop engines. The crew sit in tandem in an extensively glazed nacelle, which gives a view practically in all directions, and that was a key quality for the forward air controller role. The OV-10A version was the basic production variant. The machine was notable for its ability to operate from short and unpaved surfaces.
Wash the glazing in lukewarm soapy water before masking and let it dry. Lay the masks with tweezers and press the edges down properly, otherwise paint runs under them and the edge smears. Spray in thin coats; with a dense network of small frames a heavy coat shows as a step on every edge. Remove the mask soon after it has dried and pull it off at a slight angle. Before you start on the airframe shade, it pays to lay the cockpit shade under the frames, so that the base does not show through from the gaps.
The set is an accessory for painting a model. It does not contain a kit or paints.
