The kit represents an American guided missile frigate of the Oliver Hazard Perry class in 1:700 scale. According to the name it is the form with the full hull, that is including the underwater part and the propeller. Thanks to that the model is intended for a stand or a base, not for setting into a water surface, as is usual with the waterline form. Anyone who wants to build the ship as a floating scene is better served by a version with a waterline hull.
Frigates of the Oliver Hazard Perry class arose as escort ships of the US Navy produced in large numbers, meant to cover convoys and formations against submarines and air attack. Characteristic of them is a long clear stern with a hangar for helicopters and a simple silhouette without extensive superstructures. A number of units of this class served in the navies of other states as well, so the same hull appears in many different forms and paint schemes.
In 1:700 scale it is mainly the cleanliness of the work that decides the result. Glue the hull and sand the seams down before you start building the superstructures. Leave the small parts on the sprue as long as possible and cut them off only just before gluing; straighten bent antennas and masts in advance. The decks are easier to paint before the superstructures are fitted; do not do the overall coat with a brush under any circumstances but spray it, or the marks of the strokes will swallow all the detail. It is worth grading the gray shade and bringing the seams out with a fine dark wash. Railings and other fine elements can be added from photo-etched sets, which are commonly made for this class in 1:700 scale but are not included in the package.
The model is supplied unassembled and unpainted. Glue, paints and accessories are not included in the package, unless stated otherwise.
