The set stands for a well-known Japanese rim whose shape holds to six slender spokes and a stepped edge. The name places it with the size of 17 inches, that is with wheels of the kind commonly put on compact and mid-size cars. The item holds neither the body nor the rest of a build.
The RG-D2 line followed on from the older RG-D type and belongs to the sporting range of the Advan Racing brand. The rim was supplied in several profiles differing in the depth of the bead seat and in several finishes, from dark gray through polished surfaces to a golden shade. On modified Japanese cars it is therefore to be seen in a great many different guises. The shaping moreover holds to the period line, so the wheel suits older builds too.
Six thin spokes have a lot of edges, so apply the paint in thin coats; a heavy application rounds them off and the wheel loses its sharpness. The stepped edge stands out when the dividing edge is brought out with a darker line drawn in by capillary action. The center of the wheel is visible from close up and can take a shade of its own, different from the spokes. Before fitting the tire, check the face of the rim once more, because a fingerprint shows on a metallic surface at once.
