An add-on set in 1:24 scale with the fittings of a CB radio for the interior of a model car. It is an accessory for a base kit, not a model of a vehicle. The interior belongs among the places where ordinary kits save most: the dashboard and the center tunnel tend to be smooth and empty, because the manufacturer reckons with closed doors. As soon as you build a model with an open cabin or photograph it close up, though, the small fittings inside decide whether the result looks alive or like an empty shell.
A CB radio is a typical mark of commercial vehicles, expedition cars, tractor units, recovery and technical service vehicles and period stylizations. On a model it is fitted under the dashboard, on the center tunnel or on a pillar and tends to be completed with a microphone on a coiled cable, which can be made from thin wire. In a diorama it works as a narrative element, as it suggests that the vehicle is a working one and not merely parked.
Work with tweezers and glue with super glue (cyanoacrylate) in the smallest possible drops, ideally applied with the tip of a wire, as the excess is hard to put right in an interior. If the set is of resin, wash the parts in lukewarm soapy water before painting and cut the casting blocks away with a saw. Paint with a brush: the body of the set in a dark, little saturated shade, the controls and the display in contrast, so that they stand out close up. A dark wash into the seams and a tiny glossy dot on the display work very well here. Fit the set before you close the body up, as once the cabin is glued together you will no longer reach inside.
