In a diorama cones belong among the most useful accessories, because they fill two functions at once: they explain the action of the scene, that is, that work is going on in the place or that the way through is restricted, and at the same time their striking color leads the viewer's eye where you want it.
Place the cones according to the logic of traffic, not decoratively. Mark out with them the area being driven around, the entrance to a workshop or the space around a car. Irregular spacing looks more convincing than regular, and one piece knocked over will give the scene movement. Try the layout dry together with the model. Given the size of the parts, dose the super glue with the tip of a toothpick and glue them only once they are painted, so that paint does not get onto the contact surfaces.
Clean the parts up, remove the casting remains and wash them in lukewarm soapy water before painting. Safety orange and similar striking shades have low covering power, so apply them over a light base, ideally white, or the color will stay muddy. Several thin layers are always better than one thick one. The white reflective stripes are cleaner to mask with tape; let the paint underneath dry through completely, and only then mask and spray thinly, so that the paint does not run under the edge. Once dry, add rubbing on the edges and black tire traces on the base, and blend those almost away to nothing. Use a flowing wash on cones sparingly, or it will suppress the saturation of the color. Finally unify the accessories with the scene by dusting the same pigment over them as on the terrain and fix the surface with semi-matte varnish.
The accessory is supplied unassembled and unpainted. Paints, glue, a base and figures are not included in the package, unless stated otherwise.
