The real subject

The Boeing E-3 Sentry is an airborne warning and control aircraft, recognizable at first glance by the rotating radar dish above the rear part of the fuselage. It was created on the basis of the Boeing 707 airliner, and some of the machines built received newer CFM56 turbofan engines in place of the older ones. The nacelles of these engines have a different shape and a different mounting under the wing, so on a model it is a clearly visible change.

What the set contains

The set brings replacement CFM56 engines for the E-3 Sentry kit from Minicraft. The original parts from the kit are cut off and replaced by the parts from the set. The exact extent of the set and the procedure for the swap are given in the manufacturer's instructions.

Building and painting tips

The parts are not polystyrene, so ordinary plastic cement has no effect on them; bond the joints with super glue, and with epoxy on larger mating areas. Cut excess material off with a sharp blade a little away from the part and sand the remainder carefully, so that the shape of the nacelle does not suffer. Before painting, wash the parts in lukewarm water with detergent and let them dry out, as a degreased surface holds the primer considerably better. A sprayed primer also shows up the scratches left by sanding, which can still be sanded out. When seating them under the wing, help yourself with masking tape and keep checking the symmetry of the two sides against each other, as on a four-engined aircraft a mismatched nacelle angle is immediately visible.
