The 1:24 FAA Wheel Chocks set from AIMS contains, according to the name, four wheel chocks and loops to go with them.
Responsibility details are not available.
According to the name the package carries four wheel chocks and loops to go with them, that is pulling eyes. The gear corresponds to the practice of the British Fleet Air Arm, where aircraft were handled in the cramped space of the deck and in the hangar below it. In the large scale of 1:24 these are noticeable pieces that give a scene scale, movement and credibility.
On an aircraft carrier every movement of a machine is risky. The deck tilts in a swell, the wind over the bow is strong and there is vanishingly little free space, so an aircraft was secured in several ways at once: chocks under the wheels, tie-down ropes to eyes set into the deck and, when needed, human muscle as well. The loops on the chocks allowed them to be pulled out quickly without anyone having to crawl under the fuselage with the engine running.
Chocks on deck took a beating from salt, from oil and from the rubber of the tires. Set them on a dark gray or wooden base, add wear on the edges and a fine deposit of dirt in the hollows. The ropes and loops stand out when you separate them in shade from the body of the chock, perhaps by a rope beige a tone lighter. Smooth the small burrs left after cutting; on large pieces they show.
